Winemakers notes: “A blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Canciolo and 10% Malvasia Nera. La Torre is one of the original estates in San Gimignano and has 350 hectares in the hills of San Gimignano. Intense vinous boquet with a beguiling blackberry and violet notes. On the plate, round and robust with hints of wild berries, dark cherry and spice. This Chianti has an excellent acidity and a long and satisfying finish.”
My review: This chianti has a warm and sweet scent. It has a deep flavor profile with hints of smokiness. I was surprised that the wine did not actually taste as sweet as it smelled. There were notes of berries but they were masked by the smokiness. The wine had an overall dry finish.
Pairings: I did not pair this wine with any food.
